CITY COUNCIL
CITY OF RAMSEY
ANOKA COUNTY
STATE OF MINNESOTA

The Ramsey City Council conducted a work session on Tuesday, March 5, 2002, at the Ramsey
Fire Station Number Two, 15050 Armstrong Boulevard NW, Ramsey, Minnesota.

Members Present:

Mayor Thomas Gamec
Councilmember Susan E. Norman
Assistant City Administrator Heidi Nelson

CALL TO ORDER

Mayor Gamec called the work session of the City Council to order at 5:34 p.m.

WORK SESSION TOPICS FOR DISCUSSION

1) Consultant Len Levine

City Administrator Norman stated that the contract the City had with Len Levine expired on
January 31, 2002, and Mr. Levine had requested that the Council consider reestablishing his
contract.

Mayor Gamec stated that the issue would need to be placed on a regular Council agenda for final
approval if they were to renew the contract, but felt that with budgets being tight at this time he
could not see signing a contract with Mr. Levine. He suggested hiring Mr. Levine on an hourly
basis if his services are needed in the future.

Councihnember Zimmerman inquired as to what the cost would be to renew the contract.

City Administrator Norman replied $2,000 a month plus expenses.

Councihnember Hendriksen stated that he would agree with using Mr. Levine on an hourly basis
as needed, but he could see needing his services more extensively in the future since his expertise
is negotiating with MnDOT.

City Council/March 5, 2002
