CITYiOF ~MSEY <br />ANOn, COUNTY <br />STATE O~ MI NNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey Public Safety Board condUCted ~regUlar meeting on Thursday, February 17, 2005, <br />in the conference room in the POlice DePartmefit, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard NW, Ramsey, <br />Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: Boardmember Resident ~Toni Anderson <br /> Boardmemb:er Resident ~joe'Riddle <br /> Boardmember Resident. ;AliSOn Ward <br /> Boardmember police D~pafiJ~ment Rep Brad eaplham <br /> Mayor Thomas Gam~c,~EX-bfficio <br /> Councflmember Alan.Pearson, Ex-officio <br /> Fire Chief Dean Kapler~ EX,officio <br /> Police Chief James Way, EX-officio <br /> <br /> Boardmember Fire Department Rep David Lewandowski <br /> <br />Members Absent: <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Chairperson Anderson called the regular meeting of the Public Safety Board to order at 6:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Fire Chief Kapler stated the purpose of the meeting is to give updates to the Board - all <br />comments and questions are welcomed. · ~ <br /> <br />1) Auto Aid: Fire Chief KaPler continu.ed that last summer a system was started between <br /> Ramsey, Oak Grove, AndOver, Ham Lakeiand Anoka County called Auto Aid. It is from <br /> 5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through ~riday. That's the time the Fire Departments <br /> are the shortest of help. If there is a confirmed structure fire in any of these cities, all are <br /> dispatched. It works great. Some.Other Cities across the northern Anoka County are also <br /> interested - East Bethel, Linwood, Angka,; St. Francis, and Elk River. <br />2) Duty Officer: Starting in Oetober,:thei Fire Department started a position of Duty <br /> Officer. This officer would go out :on calls like smoke alarm chirping, illegal bums, etc. <br /> That system is also working great, <br />3) ISO Rating: In June, the Fire DeP -a~,~ meant went through an evaluation - the first full <br />evaluation that Ramsey has evet gone through. Before the City was split with a rating <br />class of 6 and 9. The 6 has now'gOne'to a 5 and most of the other areas in the City went <br />from a 9 to a 7. Residents ~/il! see insurance savings because of this rating. <br />Boardmember Paplham inquired if~re~idePts have to let their insurance companies know <br />about this. Chief Kapler replied that IS0 informs most major insurance companies of <br /> this. : <br />4) More on Ratings: ChiefKapler stated that Class 7 only covers structures within a 5-mile <br /> driving distance from the ineareSt fife .statiOn.
