Anderson
Councilmember Patti Kurak
Councilmember Terry Hendriksen
Councilmember Gerald Zimmerman

Also Present:

City Administrator James E. Norman
Principal Planner Patrick Trudgeon
Facilitator Larry Bakken

CALL TO ORDER

Mayor Gamec called the work session of the City Council to order at 6:23 p.m.
WORK SESSION TOPICS FOR DISCUSSION

1) Comprehensive Plan Facilitator-Led Discussion

Facilitator Bakken stated that he had met with Mr. Norman to discuss the issues remaining to be
resolved last week. The first issue had to do with the Density Transition Ordinance.

City Administrator Norman stated that changes were made to the Density Transition Ordinance,
which included most of the comments made at the last meeting with Mr. Bakken.

Councilmember Hendriksen stated that for some citizens being next to commercial property,
depending on the type, is preferable than a higher density residential development.

Councilmember Kurak replied that they are talking about where transitioning would be required
and where it would not. Previously they had discussed item number 2 because Mr. Hendriksen
had stated that he wanted the language removed. It was her opinion that the language should
remain for the example of when a piece of property is rezoned by the City from
commercial/industrial to residential she did not think they should be required to comply with the
density transition ordinance except for complying with the most strict setbacks. Ms. Kurak did
feel that density transitioning should be required if the property owner requests the rezoning on
any property after 1997.

City Council/November 26, 2001
