Anderson <br />Councilmember Terry Hendriksen <br />Councilmember Patti Kurak <br />Councilmember Gerald Zimmerman <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />City Administrator James E. Norman <br />Assistant City Administrator Klm Moore-Sykes <br />Finance Officer Diana Lurid <br />Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Dean Kapler <br /> <br />2001, m the <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec called the work session of the City Council to order at 8:40 p.m. <br /> <br />WORK SESSION TOPICS FOR DISCUSSION <br /> <br />1) Personnel Issues <br /> <br />Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Kapler stated that staff is looking for a structure realignment <br />within engineering. There are currently two engineers on staff and he is proposing to make one <br />of the City Engineers a lead position. Mr. Kapler explained that Steve Jankowski has had <br />problems in the past historically, but they have been minimized with the addition of Brian Olson, <br />however, there does continue to be some concerns. Staff feels that the issue may improve if <br />everything funnels through one person. <br /> <br />City Administrator Norman stated that what staff is recommending is that Mr. Brian Olson be <br />placed in a lead position and he would be required to sign off on all major projects and would be <br />the engineer speaking at all of the City meetings. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that he has made it clear in the past that he is unhappy with the way the Mr. <br />Jankowski handles himself in public and because of that he feels the change should take place. <br /> <br />Councilmember Zimmerman stated that he would not be able to vote in favor of the proposed <br />2002 budget as presented. He stated that he could possibly agree to the addition of an <br /> <br /> City Council/August~, 2001 <br /> Page 1 of 4 <br /> <br /> <br />
