FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey Fire Department conducted a regular meeting on Wednesday April 13, 2005, at <br />Ramsey Fire Station, 15050 Armstrong Blvd., NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Fire Chief Kapler called the regular meeting of the Ramsey Fire Department to order at 7:02 p.m. <br />There were 21 firefighters in attendance. There were no additions to the agenda. <br /> <br />Cell phones off. ChiefKapler also asked that cell phones remain off during drills and meetings. <br />There were no objections to this request. <br /> <br />GRASS FIRE <br /> <br />Assistant ChiefHoxter reviewed the grass fn'e of Saturday April 9th that burned I66 acres and he <br />reviewed the logistics of how the fire began and how the fire spread. The DNR was on-site and <br />the damage was kept to grass. A few nearby homes were evacuated. Officer Weiss stated that <br />his thought was around 42 trucks total responded through 2800 communications including <br />engines, tankers, grass trucks. Choppers, airplanes and helicopters were at the scene also. The <br />Ramsey equipment held up well except the winch and chain saw sustained some minor damage. <br /> <br />Chief Kapler said that the citizen input was positive along with commendations from the Mayor <br />and citizens present at the April 12thCity Council meeting for a job well done by all the fire <br />fighters that responded to this grass fire. ChiefKapler surveyed the site on Sunday evening. <br /> <br />MONTHLY REPORTS <br /> <br />I IOI INING <br /> <br />Officer Kohner recapped the March training schedule and reviewed the upcoming training <br />schedule of April and May as follows: April 20th Med Emergency/Assessment. April 27th Pump <br />Classroom (mandatory). May 2"a Officers meeting on-site ladder truck training in secure space. <br />May 1 lth Business meeting. May 18th Extrication/backboards. May 25th Water rescue. <br /> <br />MA,/OR MAINTENANCE <br /> <br />Officer Weiss reported Grass #1 wigwag lights are not working and City mechanic is looking at <br />this. <br />Grass #2 is taken care of. <br />Engine #1 City mechanic is checking on a leak in the valve area. <br />Ladder truck recall work is complete. <br /> <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT/APRIL 13, 2005 <br /> Page I of 3 <br /> <br /> <br />
