PERSONNEL COMMITTEE <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />The Personnel Committee conducted a regular meeting on Tuesday, July 8, 2008, at the Ramsey <br />Municipal Center, 7550 Sunwood Drive NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. <br />Members Present: <br />Also Present: <br />Chairperson David Jeffrey <br />Councilmember John Dehen <br />Councilmember Mary Jo Olson <br />Human Resources Manager Givonna Reed Kone <br />City Administrator Kurt Ulrich <br />Police Chief James Way <br />Fire Chief Dean Kapler <br />Community Development Director Amber Miller <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />Chairperson Jeffrey called the regular meeting of the Personnel Committee to order at 5:36 p.m. <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br />There was none. <br />APPROVE AGENDA <br />Motion by Councilmember Olson, seconded by Councilmember Dehen, to approve the agenda, <br />as submitted. <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Jeffrey, Councilmembers Olson and Dehen. Voting <br />No: None. <br />COMMITTEE BUSINESS <br />Case #1: Consider a Resolution Reclassifying the Fire Marshal Position to Fire <br />Inspector and Authorizing Staff to begin the Recruitment Process for a Fire <br />Inspector <br />Human Resources Manager Reed Kone noted that in 2004, the City created its first full-time Fire <br />Inspector position that was reclassified as a Fire Marshal in 2005. She stated that the City's Fire <br />Marshal resigned and his last day was yesterday. She noted that Fire Chief Kapler is proposing a <br />reclassification of this position back to Fire Inspector. She stated that Fire Chief Kapler was, <br />until a few years ago, overseeing both the Public Works and the Fire Department, but now only <br />Personnel Committee / July 8, 2008 <br />Page 1 of 4 <br />
