PERSONNEL COMMITTEE <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />The Personnel Committee conducted a regular meeting on Tuesday, August 26, 2008, at the <br />Ramsey Municipal Center, 7550 Sunwood Drive NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. <br />Members Present: Chairperson David Jeffrey <br />Councilmember Mary Jo Olson <br />Councilmember John Dehen <br />Also Present: Human Resources Manager Givonna Reed Kone <br />Assistant City Administrator Heidi Nelson <br />Community Development Director Amber Miller <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />Chairperson Jeffrey called the regular meeting of the Personnel Committee to order at 5:03 p.m. <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br />There was none. <br />APPROVE AGENDA <br />Motion by Chairperson Jeffrey, seconded by Councilmember Olson, to approve the agenda, as <br />submitted. <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Jeffrey and Councilmembers Olson and Dehen. <br />Voting No: None. <br />COMMITTEE BUSINESS <br />Case #1: Request for Authorization to Appoint an Agent of Record for Life and <br />Disability Insurance <br />Human Resources Manager Reed Kone explained that in 2004, CBIZ Benefits became the City's <br />Agent of Record. The City joined CBIZ's Alliance with the intent of securing volume discounts. <br />Over the years, CBIZ's Alliance has dwindled in size and, in addition, the current carrier is no <br />longer offering volume discounts to alliances. Human Resources Manager Reed Kone <br />recommended that Ochs, Inc be appointed the City's new agent of record for life and disability <br />insurance. Ochs and the League of Minnesota Cities partner to offer life, disability and long <br />term care insurance to Minnesota cities and counties. The partnership is known as the <br />"Municipal Pool" and provides benefits to more than 20,000 members. Ochs is an insurance <br />broker and administrator for the Municipal Pool. <br />Personnel Committee / August 26, 2008 <br />Page 1 of 3 <br />
