PERSONNEL COMMITTEE
CITY OF RAMSEY
ANOKA COUNTY
STATE OF MINNESOTA
The Personnel Committee conducted a regular meeting on Tuesday, January 27, 2009, at the
Ramsey Municipal Center, 7550 Sunwood Drive NW, Ramsey, Minnesota.
Members Present:
Also Present:
Chairperson David Jeffrey
Councilmember John Dehen (arrived at 5:40 p.m.)
Councilmember Colin McGlone
Mayor Bob Ramsey, Alternate
Human Resources Manager Givonna Reed Kone
City Administrator Kurtis Ulrich
Assistant City Administrator Heidi Nelson
City Attorney William Goodrich
Building Maintenance Supervisor Dan Bray
CALL TO ORDER
Chairperson Jeffrey called the regular meeting of the Personnel Committee to order at 5:05 p.m.
CITIZEN INPUT
Michael Max, 16284 Uranium Street, stated he would like to comment about the proposed
changes to the policy for appointing Board and Commission members and expressed concern
about putting all candidates into one pool. He stated he has talked to some board members and
has heard words like "disrespectful" and "insulting" that these people are being required to go
through the interview process again. He indicated another concern is that there does not seem to
be a huge pool of candidates from which to make appointments, and stated he is concerned that if
incumbents in very good standing feel they may be turned down for appointment, they might
never run again. He encouraged the Committee to consider the consequences so that this does
not happen.
Chairperson Jeffrey stated the Personnel Committee will discuss this matter in further detail in
Case #3.
APPROVE AGENDA
Chairperson Jeffrey requested the addition of one item to the agenda to select a Chair of the
Personnel Committee for the coming year.
Motion by Chairperson Jeffrey, seconded by Councilmember McGlone, to approve the agenda as
amended.
Personnel Committee/January 27, 2009
