ORDINANCE #06-13 <br /> <br /> CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 3.20 OF THE CITY CODE TITLED <br /> "PERSONNEL POLICY" AND SECTION 3.14 TITLED "POLICE DEPARTMENT". <br /> <br /> The City of l~msey hereby ordains: <br /> <br /> SECTION 1. AMENDMENT <br /> <br />Section 3.20, Persounel Policy, is hereby amended by repealing the language in Sections 3.20.01 <br />through 3.20.24. The repealed language is replaced with language referencing the City of <br />Ramsey Personnel Policy, which was adopted by resolution and which will be amended by <br />resolution in the future. Section 3.20.24, Criminal History Background Investigations is repealed <br />from Section 3.20, Personnel Policy, and added to Section 3.14, Police Department. <br /> <br />Section 3.14, Police Department, is hereby amended to include language authorizing the Police <br />Department to conduct pre-employment criminal background investigations. <br /> <br />Section 3.20 Personnel Policy <br /> <br />Section 3.20 Personnel Policy is hereby repealed and replaced with the following language: <br /> <br />The City of Ramsey's Personnel Policy was adopted by resolution on April 11, 2006 and will be <br />amended by resolution. <br /> <br />Section 3.14 Police Department <br /> <br />Section 3.14 Police Department is hereby amended to include the following language: <br /> <br />Section 3.14.04 Criminal History Baekgronnd Investigations <br /> <br />Subdivision 1. Authority <br /> <br />Minnesota Statute, Section 13.87 authorizes city police departments to conduct criminal history <br />background investigations on applicants for City positions using Minnesota Computerized <br />Criminal history data. <br /> <br />Subdivision 2. Applications <br /> <br />This section applies only to applicants who are finalists for regular, temporary and volunteer <br />status positions. Before the investigation is undertaken, the applicant must authorize the Police <br />Department in writing to undertake the investigation and to release the information to the City <br />Council, City Administrator and/or City staff as appropriate. <br /> <br /> <br />
