ORDINANCE ~88-5 <br /> <br /> CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />ADOPT CHAPTER 80.1 WHICH SHALL BE KNOWN AS THE FIRE SAFETY CHAPTER OF THE CITY <br />CODE OF RAMSEY, MINNESOTA <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 80 TO THE CITY CODE OF RAMSEY, MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The City Council of the City of Ramsey does hereby ordain: <br /> <br />80.01. CREATION. <br /> <br />There is established in the City of Ramsey a fire department consisting of <br />volunteer members. The officers of the department may consist of, but are not <br />limited to, a Fire Chief, Assistant Chief, one or more Captains, and no less <br />than twelve (12) Fire Fighters. <br /> <br />80.02. FIRE CHIEF. <br /> <br />The Fire Chief shall have control over all of the fire fighting apparatus and <br />shall be ultimately responsible for its care and condition; shall assume <br />command and responsibility for a fire when on the scene; shall supervise <br />investigation and determination of fire cause; shall supervise the training and <br />discipline of fire department personnel; and shall enforce fire prevention laws <br />and safety regulations. <br /> <br />80.03 . PURPOSE. <br /> <br />The fire department shall be established for the purpose of the protection of <br />lives and property within the City from fire and other property or life <br />threatening emergencies. The fire department shall provide fire prevention <br />services in accordance with standards established by the City Council. <br /> <br />80.04. RECORDS. <br /> <br />The fire chief shall keep in a convenient form a completed record of all fires. <br />Such records shall include the time of the alarm, location of the fire, cause <br />of the fire, if known, type of building, name of owner and tenant, purpose for <br />which occupied, value of building and contents, members of the department <br />responding to the alarm, and such other information as the fire chief may deem <br />advisable or as may be required from time to time by the City Council or State <br />insurance department. <br /> <br />80.05. ASSISTANT CHIEF. <br /> <br />In the absence or disability of the Fire Chief, the Assistant Chief shall <br />perform all the functions and exercise all the authority of the Fire Chief with <br />the exception of administrative roles to be performed by the Fire Board. <br /> <br />80.06. MEMBERSHIP. <br /> <br />Ail Officers and Fire Fighters shall be not less than eighteen (18) years of <br />age. Each candidate for probationary Fire Fighter must satisfy certain minimum <br />job related requirements of education, physical ability, and any other job <br />related qualifications and pass a satisfactory physical examination. <br /> <br /> <br />
