CITY COUNCIL <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey City Council conducted a regular work session on Tuesday, February 2, 1999, at the <br />Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Thomas Gamec <br />Councilmember Susan Anderson <br />Councilmember Natalie Haas Steffen <br />Councilmember Terry Hendriksen <br />Councilmember Gerald Zimmerman <br /> <br />Members Absent: None <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />City Administrator James E. Norman <br />Administrative Services Manager Linda Waite Smith <br />Finance Officer Diana Lund <br />Chief of Police David Gustafson <br />Director of Public Works Dean Kapler <br />Community Development Director Cindy Sherman <br />City Engineer Steve Jankowski <br />Zoning Administrator Sylvia Frolik <br />Wayne Jeffries, Ramsey Drug <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec called the regular work session to order at 5:41 p.m. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br /> <br />Consensus was to approve the agenda as presented with the exception of discussing topic #3 first. <br />COUNCIL TOPICS <br /> <br />3) Sign Ordinance and Policy <br /> <br />Zoning Administrator Frolik stated that the current sign ordinance specifies the sign must be on <br />the premises. She introduced Wayne Jeffries of Ramsey Drug (5300 153ra Avenue) who was <br />present to discuss his unique situation and recent difficulty with compliance for this ordinance. <br /> <br />Mr. Jeffries explained that Ramsey Drug has been a local business at the same location for close <br />to 20 years and all of a sudden he cannot have their name displayed. Initially they had a permit <br />from the City and State for a sign location (on the Ken Niles property), which was kitty-corner <br /> <br />City Council Work Session/February 2, 1999 <br /> Page 1 of 4 <br /> <br /> <br />
