PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE
CITY OF RAMSEY
ANOKACOUNTY
STATE OF MINNESOTA

The Public Works Committee conducted a regular meeting on Tuesday, June 20, 2006, at the
Ramsey Fire Station Number 1, 15050 Armstrong Boulevard, NW, Ramsey, Minnesota.

Members Present:

Chairperson David Elvig
Councilmember Todd Cook
Councilmember Mary Jo Olson

Also Present:

Public Works Director Brian Olson
Public Works Supervisor Grant Reimer
City Engineer Steve Jankowski
Police Chief James Way
ParkslUtilities Supervisor Mark Riverblood
Civil Engineer II, Leonard Linton

CALL TO ORDER

Chairperson Elvig called the regular meeting of the Public Works Committee to order at 5 :33
p.m.

CITIZEN INPUT

Jim Gronlund, resident, stated he would like to check on the status of the removal of chevrons at
169th Avenue and Neon Street.

City Engineer Jankowski noted the determination had been to see how effective the chevrons are.

Mr. Gronlund stated after the first snowfall someone went off the road and took the first chevron
out, but the curbs have been effective.

City Engineer Jankowski explained there was concern with removing the chevrons once they
were put in place, because if there were to be an accident there could be concern about the City's
responsibility. Most of the people traveling that road are aware of the curve, but there may be
people on the road that are not aware of the curve.

Mr. Gronlund suggested leaving the two chevrons on the comer in place and removing the
remaining chevrons.

Councilmember Cook commented the placement of these chevrons was citizen driven, and might
as well remain citizen driven.

Public Works Committee / June 20,2006
