Norman <br />Assistant City Administrator Heidi Nelson <br />Public Works Director Brian Olson <br />City Attorney William Goodrich <br />El Tinklenberg, The Tinklenberg Group <br />Marty Fischer, Premier Properties <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tern Cook called the City Council Work Session to order at 7:07 p.m. <br /> <br />APPROVE AGENDA <br /> <br />The agenda was amended as follows: Case Nos. 3,4, 1, and 2. <br /> <br />The agenda was approved as amended. <br /> <br />COUNCIL TOPICS FOR DISCUSSION <br /> <br />3) Animal Containment Facility <br /> <br />Police Chief Way informed Council the City currently houses dogs that have been impounded by <br />the Police Department at the City of Anoka Pound. Ramsey is allotted three slots at their facility <br />and a fourth for emergencies only. When all of these spots are taken, they are forced to request <br />homeowners to contain strays and/or allow these animals to continue to run at large. A flat rate <br />is paid to Anoka; if the dog needs to be put down another fee is paid. If no one comes forward <br />for the dog the fee could cost up to $175 to $200 per dog that is brought to the facility. If a <br />resident picks up the dog they pay Ramsey a fee that is paid to Anoka, which covers the cost. <br />Ramsey is losing money on the containment of these dogs; last year they broke about even with <br /> <br />City Council Work Session / July 18, 2006 <br />Page 1 of6 <br />
