<br />Page 1 <br />April 9, 1979 <br />Board of Adjustment <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT MEETING <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof the City of Ramsey's Board of <br />Adjustment convened on April 9, 1979, at Ramsey Municipal Center, <br />15153 Nowthen Boulevard N.W. Ramsey, Minnesota 55303. The purpose of <br />this meeting is to consider the request of: 1) Mr. Ralph High to construct <br />a garage on his property prior to the principle structure, and 2) Mr. Kenneth <br />Vold - to construct a garage at his place of residence. <br /> <br />Members present: Mayor Gamec Others Present: <br />Councilman Cox <br />Councilman Reimann <br />Councilman Sorteberg <br />Members absent: Councilman Mickelson <br /> <br />City Adm. Schnelle <br />City Engineer Raatikka <br />City Attorney Goodrich <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec called the meeting to order at 7:35 P.M. and appointed Councilman <br />Cox as Chairman of the Board of Adjustment in the absence of Councilman <br />Mickelson. Mayor Cox led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Attorney Goodrich administered the "Oath of Office" of Councilman to Mr. <br />Sorteberg. Mayor Gamec announced that Mr. Sorteberg is filling the <br />Office of Councilman vacated by Robert Muller. He added that Mr. Sorteberg <br />has served the community for many years on various committees including the <br />Planning & Zoning Commission. <br /> <br />Mayor Cox called the Board of Adjustment to order at 7:36 P.M. <br /> <br />Mr. High was present and reviewed his request before the Board. He said he <br />is seeking permission to construct a 22 X 24 foot garage prior to building <br />a house because he doesn't have the money at this time to construct a house <br />but needs the storage and plans to use the garage for a work area when he <br />builds the house at a later date when he retires. The property is located <br />off of Nowthen Boulevard in a unplatted area, parcel 5600-7. <br /> <br />A general discussion was held regarding the proposal. <br /> <br />Adm. Schnelle advised the Board that similar requests have come before them <br />in the past and they have been rejected, further that granting of this <br />request would be going against the City's policy. <br /> <br />Mayor Cox said that the City does experience problems of vandalism with unattended <br />buildings. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Mr. High said he isn't going to keep valuable items there. <br /> <br />Motion by Mayor Gamec seconded by Councilman Reimann to follow the City <br />Ordinance and deny granting of the building permit for construction of this <br />garage due to the fact that there is no time limit as to when the house will <br />be constructed and it could attract vandalism in the future. <br />
