Tree Sale, Arbor Day Ceremony and tree planting, Green
Business Expo and Pet Clinic. The preliminary plans for these
newspaper.) NOTE: a fee may be charged for tires
disposed of on Clean-Up Day.
and residents should be sure to watch for their April newslet-
ter for final details.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

As you might guess, the success of Ramsey's many annual
spring events are dependent on the efforts of many. On April
28, volunteers are needed for the tree planting efforts and
for the pick-up service for appliances, tires and car batteries.
Persons wishing to volunteer for the tree planting should call
Bruce Bacon at 427-1410 and persons Willing to help pick
up appliances, tires and car batteries should call Jim
Gromberg at 427-1410. The planning of these events are
busy times for city staff and if you are unable to reach Jim
or Bruce, just leave your name and phone number with the
telephone receptionist.

HANDICAP ACCESSIBILITY

IMPROVEMENTS MADE AT

CITY HALL

During the month of March, 1990, the City of Ramsey com-
pleted it's handicap accessibility improvement project at Ci-
ty Hall. The project included downsizing the diameter of rail-
ings, lowering urinals, mirrors, etc., providing handicap ac-
cessible work space in the Senior Citizen kitchen area, in-
stallation of lever type door handles throughout the City Hall,
enlargement of restroom stalls to facilitate wheelchairs, new
door openers which require less pressure for opening and
the installation of electronic automated door openers.
Additionally, the City of Ramsey will be opening a 30 acre
handicap accessible park shortly after the Rum River Bridge
opens. The park is proposed to include the fOllowing han-
dicap accessible amenities: parking lot, fishing pier, one mile
of hard-surfaced trails, cooking locations all within a prairie
restoration area on the Rum River.
******************************************

What is the Census?
The census is a nationwide count of people and housing
units.

How is the Census done?
About the last week in March, 1990, you'll receive an "Of-
ficial1990 U.S. Census Form" in the mail from the U.S.
Census Bureau. After filling out the form, you mail it back
to the Census Bureau. Postage is provided. The Census
Bureau personnel will be contacting those persons that
fail to return their Census form; those contacts will be
made both in the form of telephone calls and personal
visits. You can do your part to minimize the cost of the
1990 Census by mailing your Census Form in promptly.

Is the Census confidential -- will my answers be kept secret?
Yes. The answers you give in the census form are kept
secret. The Census Bureau will NOT give your name or
address to ANYBODY -- no other federal agency (not the
BIA, FBI or the Internal Revenue Service), no police, no
court, no welfare department, no housing inspector, no
health inspector -- NO ONE.

What's on the Census form?
There are 14 questions (some with multiple parts) on the
short form. There are 59 questions (some with mUltiple
parts) on the long form. Questions will ask about
household relationships, sex, race, age, year of birth,
marital status, type of housing unit, owned or rented
housing. A sample of the households will be asked about
housing characteristics, citizenship, education, ancestry,
residence five years ago, language, military service,
disability, labor force participation, transportation and
income.

If you have problems understanding and completing your
Census Forms, certain members of Ramsey City Staff will
be available at Ramsey City Hall, 15153 Nowthen Blvd. NW.,
from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28 to
assist you. If you are unable to make it on Wednesday, March
28th and need additional information, you can call Jim
Gromberg at 427-1410.
