Waste Management
.......'CO............. of Minnesota, Inc.

In conjuction with the Keep America Beautiful Program, Waste Management of Minnesota, Inc. and the City of Ramsey
will again join forces to sponsor a Ramsey Clean-Up Day on Saturday, May 5, 1990 from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
In an effort to improve the scope and efficiency of the program, the procedure for participation and types of materials
accepted this year will vary from that of years' past. One of the major changes in procedure is that permits for landfilling
on Clean Up Day will no longer be provided in the Ramsey Resident Newsletter. Permits will be available over the counter
at City Hall (15153 Nowthen Blvd. N.W.) prior to Clean Up Day and at the landfill on Clean Up Day. Residents are strongly
urged to get their permits in that week prior to Clean Up Day. You will also note that the list of acceptable materials on
Clean Up Day has expanded. Please, read the following rules and guidelines carefully and thank you for participating in efforts
to "MAKE THE SCENE, KEEP RAMSEY CLEAN."

PERMIT:
Permits to dispose of one load of debris at the landfill will be issued to Ramsey residents only. Permits may be obtained
at City Hall from Monday, April 30 through Friday, May 4, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Donations
for permits will be accepted. Permits will also be available at the landfill on Clean Up Day (May 5) for a $5.00 charge.
Donations and fees collected from the permits will be used to help fund various other Keep America Beautiful projects
in the City. Residents wishing to take advantage of only the recycling drop-off center (appliances, tires, glass, aluminum,
newspaper, metal, household batteries, car batteries, leaves, grass) at the landfill on Clean Up Day will not be required
to have a permit. However, a disposal fee will be charged for some of the recyclable materials. This fee represents
the minimum cost to process the recyclables following their disposal at the landfill recycling center.

GUIDELINES:
Materials Accepted
Rubbish

Major Appliances
Car Tires
Other Tires

Car Batteries
Glass

Metal

Aluminum

Newspaper
Household Batteries

Leaves, grass, soft plant prunings
Brush, woody prunings and limbs less
than 5 inches in diameter

Cost
By permit
$6.00 each
$1.00 each
Cost by size and weight
Free
Free
Free
Free
Free
Free
Free
Free; one day only drop-off sites: Cross of Hope
Church, Centreal Park, Titterud Park, River's Bend
Park, Ramsey City Hall
Please have your recyclable items separated and readily accessible for easy unloading.
AGAIN, PLEASE NOTE THAT PERMITS FOR CLEAN UP DAY ARE NOT BEING DISTRIBUTED VIA THE RAMSEY RESIDENT
NEWSLETTER AND EVERY EFFORT SHOULD BE MADE TO OBTAIN THEM AT CITY HALL PRIOR TO CLEAN UP DAY.

CITY SPONSORS ~
TREE GIVE-AWAY . . ~
As a special observance of Arbor Day, the City has again
purchased containerized Spruce and Pine seedlings to be
presented as a gift to each household in Ramsey. The seedl-
ings will be distributed at this year's annual Spring events
on April 28 (Pet Clinic, Tree Sale, Green Business/Environ-
ment Expo) and on May 5 (Clean Up Day and Decentralized
Brush Chipping Program at 5 selected sites).

* NAME THAT PARK *

As property in the City is platted, the City often acquires park
land in one form or another (park lots, trails, etc.) as part
of the park dedication requirements placed on developers.
If that park land acquisition is in the form of a park lot, it
generally is given a name. The members of the Ramsey Park
and Recreation Commission are requesting that suggested
names for parks be solicited from the residents. If you have
any suggestions for future park names, please submit them
to Mark Banwart, Community Development Director, Ramsey
Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Blvd. NW., Ramsey, Mn.
55303.
