FISHING PIER
TO BE CONSTRUCTED
IN RIVER'S BEND PARK
In 1989, the City submitted an applicatio~ for a fishing pier
through DNR's Cooperative Opportunity for Resource
Enhancement (CORE) Program. While we were.un~uccessful
in obtaining a fishing pier (ranking 7 of 18 applications, with
5 projects being selected), DNR requested that we let them
know by January 1, 1990 if the City wanted to keep. its ap-
plication active. On December 12, 1989, the Council voted
to keep the application active.
In February of 1990, it was reported to City Council t~at
the fishing pier applications approved in the past usually In-
clude a local cost share provision. Council then adopted
resolutions to amend and resubmit the City's CORE applica-
tion for a fishing pier to include a $2,000 commitment for
local cost sharing. The $2,000 local cost share is to be funded
with $1 000 from the City's Park Trust Fund and $500 dona-
tions from Danny's Aluminum Processing and Commercial
Asphalt.
On August 7,1990, the City received notification from the
DNR that its application for a fishing pier through the CORE
program had been approved. It is anticipated that the 60 foot,
handicap accessible fishing pier will be constructed in the
Spring of 1991 just 150 yards south of the newly constructed
#116 bridge.

The City Council has contracted for the construction of two
more ball fields at Central Park by the end of September.
If the fields are seeded by the end of September, they will
and older children to help with the fertilizing, seeding and
The failure ro return uniforms at the end of the season
has resulted in the need to charge deposits. Please, return
your old uniforms to your coach; no queations will be ask-
ed. Thank you.
Any problems or concerns regarding the RYAA sports pro-
gram or organization should be sent to Beverly Swanson at
