MEDIATION SERVICES OFFERS
A WIN/WIN SOLUTION

MEDIATION SERVICES for Anoka County finds that many
people equate conflict with win/lose situations. Can conflict
be associated with positive win/win results? MEDIATION
SERVICES offers the following statements about conflict.
Which reflects your feelings and beliefs about conflict?
1. Conflict has the potential for creating understanding.
2. Conflict provides the context for change and is often the
necessary catalyst.
3. Conflict is a normal and healthy part of life.
4. Conflict generates energy and creativity.
5. Conflict provides the opportunity for resolution of
problems.
The term "conflict" is used to represent the inevitable
misunderstandings, differences of opinion and problems
associated with everday life among family members, friends,
business associates and groups of people who regularly in-
teract. It is not intended to refer to dangerous or abusive
situations.
Talking about the conflict in specific terms produces the
potential for understanding the issues and people involved.
Talking about the interests underlying the conflict provides
the opportunity for resolution. Conflict is a normal part of
life and differences of opinion. Exciting changes and oppor-
tunities for growth come out of a healthy expression and
interchange of ideas and feelings.
MEDIATION SERVICES offers a process and structure
for working through conflict and concerns in a safe environ-
ment. Resolve a conflict facing you with a landlord or te-
nant, business or consumer friend, or family member. Our
service is free and mediation has worked for many people
in Anoka County. Call 755-5300 and talk to Ann Wallerstedt,
Executive Director, today.
