Licenses are good for a period of two years.

POSTAL CUSTOMER

SPECIAL ELECTION

APRIL 19, 1988

On April 19, 1988, there will be a special election
in Ramsey on two issues:
Airport Zoning Ordinance
-and-
Volunteer Fire Department
The Gateway North Industrial Airport Zoning Or-
dinance was introduced in 1987 and generated a
petition requesting that the adoption of this or-
dinance be submitted to a referendum. The purpose
of the Ordinance is to prevent establishment of air-
port hazards, to protect the airport, to protect pro-
perty and persons on the ground and provide aircraft
with safe maneuvering space near the airport.
The City Council has also asked that the voters
opinion be expressed via an advisory election on
whether or not Ramsey should establish it's own
volunteer fire department. Currently, Ramsey con-
tracts with the Cities of Anoka and Elk River for it's
fire protection. Since the fall of 1987, a special study
committe has been evaluating how fire protection
should be provided for the City of Ramsey in the
future and has recommended that a volunteer fire
department be established.
In preparation for this election, there will be a
special issue of the Ramsey Resident published and
delivered sometime during the week of April 4, 1988.
That special issue will contain sample ballots, in-
structions to voters about where to vote and how to
register to vote.
The two questions will be reviewed in as much
detail as can reasonably be afforded within the space
of the 4-page Ramsey Resident. Included will be ex-
cerpts from the Fire Safety Study Committee's
Report and the Gateway North Industrial Airport Zon-
ing Ordinance, tables, questions and answers and
summaries.
All information will be factual and no part of the
Ramsey Resident will be used to persuade the voter
to vote in opposition to or in favor of either issue.
The editor of the Ramsey Resident does, however,
recognize that the whole story can only be
understood by reading the facts and hearing the
arguments in favor of or opposed to an issue.
Therefore, as a service to our readers, we will pass
along the name and telephone number of any per-
son wishing to receive further information to those
persons who are advocates and opponents of the
two issues. If you are interested in hearing more,
leave your name and telephone number with Sylvia
Frolik at 427-1410. Please indicate for which issue
you would like more information.

CAR-RT -SRT
BULK RATE
U.S. POSTAGE
PAID
PERMIT NO. 131
ANOKA, MN 55303
