<br />Ramsey EDC Conducts Tour of Businesses

<br />The Ramsey Economic De-
<br />velopment Commission re-
<br />cently held their first annual
<br />tour of Ramsey businesses.
<br />The meeting was held on Sep-
<br />tember 25 at Grosslein Bever-
<br />age in Ramsey. The purpose of
<br />the tour was to promote
<br />economic development in
<br />. Ramsey and to acquaint those
<br />interested in the different
<br />types of business and industry
<br />we have in Ramsey. Those
<br />who attended the meeting
<br />were given a tour of Grosslein
<br />Beverage, Dickenson Diesel,
<br />the new Rum River Hills Golf
<br />Course, M&L Liquor, Water
<br />Control Corporation and Sod-
<br />erholm & Associates, T.K.1. In-
<br />dustries, Iron Works Gym,
<br />Gateway North Industrial Air-
<br />port, Veve Inc., and Mat Punch
<br />& Die.
<br />At a meeting which followed
<br />the tour of Ramsey business-
<br />es, the Economic Develop-
<br />ment Commission also intro-
<br />duced the Ramsey Economic
<br />Deve!op!.i",nt Company. This
<br />company was originally incor-
<br />porated in 1982 as a local non-
<br />profit development company.
<br />The primary purpose of the
<br />company is to assist the city
<br />and community by promoting
<br />the growth and expansion of
<br />new and existing businesses
<br />in Ramsey.
<br />The Ramsey Economic De-
<br />velopment Company will work
<br />as a liaison between the city
<br />and the private sector as a
<br />source of information and
<br />assistance in meeting devel-
<br />opment needs.

<br />Ramsey Economic Develop-
<br />ment Company by local busi-
<br />nesses and residents, the
<br />company is offering each busi-
<br />ness and resident the oppor-
<br />tunity to become a voting
<br />member of the company
<br />through the ownership of
<br />stock in the company.
<br />The stock will be offered at
<br />$25 per share. The proceeds
<br />from the sale of stock will be
<br />used by the company in its ef-
<br />forts to assist and promote the
<br />growth, expansion and devel-
<br />opment of businesses in Ram-
<br />sey.- All stock ownerS are en-
<br />couraged to attend the annual
<br />stockholders' meeting in Jan-
<br />uary and to participate in the
<br />company's business as well
<br />as in the election of officers.
<br />Prospective purchasers of the
<br />stock are advised that there is
<br />no expectation of income from
<br />the stock in the form of divi-
<br />dents from earnings. The sole
<br />purpose of the sale of stock in ..

<br />August 6 regular meeting
<br />A public hearing for the
<br />street improvement project on
<br />164th Lane was held because
<br />.of a petition presented to the
<br />council asking for that im-
<br />provement. After hearing input
<br />from the residents, it was
<br />found a majority were oppos-
<br />
<br />ed to the project and the coun-
<br />cil voted to terminate further
<br />consideration of the street im-
<br />provement.
<br />The public hearing to solve
<br />the drainage problem in the
<br />Russell/Stack Addition con-
<br />tinued. The engineers present-
<br />ed a proposal to solve the pro-
<br />
<br />blem without assessing the
<br />residents but assuming ease-
<br />ments would be donated and
<br />some labor would be volun-
<br />teered by those in the area.
<br />The engineer was authorized
<br />to negotiate with property
<br />owners for the - easements
<br />
