CITY COUNCIL <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey City Council conducted a work session on Thursday, June 10, 1999, in the Police <br />Conference Room, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Thomas Gamec <br />Councilmember Susan E. Anderson <br />Councilmember Terry Hendriksen <br />Councilmember Gerald Zimmerman <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />James E. Norman, City Administrator <br />Sean Walther, Community Development Assistant <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec called the City Council work session to order at 5:45 p.m. <br /> <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />APPROVE AGENDA <br /> <br />Consensus was to approve the agenda as presented. <br /> <br />COUNCIL TOPICS FOR DISCUSSION <br /> <br />#1: Code Enforcement - "Clean it up Pal" <br /> <br />Community Development Assistant Sean Walther requested input from the City Council on <br />Code Enfomement. There are four main issues - off-street parking, condition of premises, junk <br />cars, and tall grass/weeds. Cun'ently, we are not proactive - the City reacts to complaints. Mr. <br />Walther summarized the procedure and the court procedure. <br /> <br />Councihnember Zimmennan suggested going easier on the contractors, etc. - they are trying to <br />make a living. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen stated we need to exercise some reason. <br /> <br />Councilmember Anderson stated that mediation is good, but maybe we need to also look at our <br />ordinances. <br /> <br />Discussion ensued relating to legal and "illegal" businesses in a residential area. <br /> <br />Councilmember Zimmerman stated that some of the businesses may be seasonal and those with <br />bigger acreage should be given some leeway. <br /> <br />City Council Work Session/June 10, 1999 <br /> Page 1 of 3 <br /> <br /> <br />
