Those of you living in
Ramsey are probably wonder-
ing, "What's happened to the
Ramsey Resident?"
Rest assured the official
newsletter of the City of
Ramsey is alive and well
within these pages. It's been
expanded to include two of'
your neighboring commun-
ities - "Welcome Anoka and
Andover to the new "Tri-City
Newsletter!" '

r

Why the Change?
To prevent using tax dollars
to publish and mail the news-
letter, the City of Ramsey
wanted to' cover their ex-
penses through advertising.
By allowing Ramsey busi-
I nesses limited advertising'
space in the "Resident," the
city hoped to produce an in-
formative publication at no
cost to its citizens.
But, after three issues, it
became apparent there wasr't
a large enough busi'1ess base
in Ramsey froIT" which tt'te
publisher could draw for
advertising; nor was the
newsletter circulation large
enough to significantly in-
terest RarT'se]s bUSIness
community.

l
'"

The Advent of the
Tri.City Format
Faced with discontinuing
the "Ramsey Resident," the
city worked with the publish-
er, Bergeron & Associates,
Inc., to seek out new ways of
accomplishing their task.
This search revealed a strong
interest in the cities of An-
dover and Anoka for a
newsletter to serve their com-
munities. After meetings with
city staffs and councils in all
three municipalities, the tri-
city format evolved.

Will the New Format
Secure a Financial Base,
for our Newsletter?
We believe so. Having a
combined newsletter will of-
fer each business a broader
population base for advertis-
ing - the newsletter reaches
approximately 14,500 homes

and businesses.'
The space allowed for
advertising will still be
limited, but with the increas-
ed number of businesses, and
the expanded circulation, the
publisher does not anticipate
problems meeting production
and distribution expenses.
In July, the status of the
newsletter will be reviewed. If
all goes as planned, the three
cities Will continue bringing
. this important publication to
the citizens of Ramsey, An-
dover and Anoka.

Will City Identities
Be Lost or Confused?

We believe it's important to
give each city its own section.
This allows residents to turn
immediately to the' informa-
tion that directly affects
them. It also offers readers an
Main Street Bridge -to be
closed for reconstruction

One of the major construc-
tion projects to be undertaken
in Anoka this summer is the
long-awaited reconstruction
and upgrading of the Main
Street Bridge at the Rum
, River. Bids for rehabilitating
the bridge were opened on
February 26, 1985, at 10 a.m.
at Anoka City Ha'll.
Pending the Minnesota

Department of Transporta-
tion's approval,' Park Con-
struction Company of Min-
neapolis was given pre-
liminary approval to do, the
work by Anoka City Council.
Their low bid of $1,841,611.71
came within 2 perce'nt of what
the city had estimated th'e
project to cost.
The bridge will be closed to

traffic from approXimatelY
mid-Apri I to October 1, 1985,
while bridge reconstruction is
taking place. Signs will .be
posted prior to the closing
and the detour route will be
well marked. The proposed
detour route is outlined on
page 2, but watch for further
details in the local news-
papers.
