J ~V\e.-::> \C( 8 d-

ATTENTION!

CITIZENS OF RAMSEY

Some residents have brought to our
attention that the "International
Association of the Chiefs of Police" have
been mailing invitations to the general
public to join "Operation Identification."
Operation Identification is a process
whereby citizens are issued an
identification number and are advised to
mark their property with this number. If
an article is stolen the owner can then be
traced through this number by law
enforcement agencies nationwide. The
Association invites the public to join and
"gives" them a free six-month trial,
however, the Association then requires an
annual fee of $15 if you wish to continue.
The Ramsey Police Department, the
Minnesota Crime . Prevention Officers
Association, and Minnesota Crime Watch
urge all residents to participate in
"Operation Identification," and to contact
their police department for "free"
information and enrollment. There is no
charge for this service through the police
department.. Residents having any
questions can call the Ramsey Police
Department day or night. "Reminder
this service is offered free to Ramsey
residents through the Police
Department. I'm really interested in
hearing YOUR opinion, so please call me
at 753-4034. Councilwoman Sue
VanWagner
