Memo from the Mayor no In the past few weeks there has been a lot of concern over a new airport to be built in the southwest corner of the City. So far there has been no commitment by the city Council to put an airport in the City. There has been a study done to see if it is feasible to locate an airport here and its size. If an airport was to be located in the City it would be the type which is like Crystal Airport and would not have the large commercial planes or jets. The City Council is looking at this airport in many ways and concerns for the City. There is a long way to go and several questions to be answered before the Council could _ proceed ahead with the proposal. 1) Environmental impact statement 2) Funding available to build 3) Impact on taxes 4) Pros and cons to residential and commercial property 5) Benefit to commercial growth 6) Several public hearings Only after these questions are addressed would the Council proceed ahead with an airport. There was a meeting of several citizens with me at the Ramsey Municipal Center on April 8, 1981 and they have asked to meet with the whole City Council at a special meeting which I have set for May 19, 1981 also at the Ramsey City Hall at 7:30 p.m. Once again there has been no commitment to build an airport in Ramsey. POSTAGE PAID- RAMSEY JAYCEE CLEAN-UP DAY May 9 The Ramsey Jaycees will once again hold its annual Spring Clean-Up Day on Saturday, May 9, 1981 from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. There will be free dumping at the landfill that day for Ramsey residents only who have a Clean-Up Day sticker. The sticker can be obtained from the Ramsey Municipal Center after May 1 or from any Jaycee member. Ramsey residents only will be permitted free dumping and please remember no tires will be taken at the landfill. Ramsey Jaycees - Anyone interested in placing an article in the newsletter please contact Sheila Beyer at the Ramsey Municipal Center 427-1410. FRIENDLY REMINDER ... Please remember to go vote on May 5 regarding the Park Bond issue. RAMSEY POST OFFICE Approximately two years ago a contract branch of the U.S. Postal Service was opened at the office ofthe State Bank of Anoka Ramsey Bank Office. This branch office is located at the intersection of 167th Avenue and Highway No. 47. What this simply means is that the residents of Ramsey are now able to use Ramsey in their mailing addresses so long as the 55303 zip code is used. SPRING NUISANCE Spring is here - and once again along with spring comes the dogs. The dog complaints are continuing to plague City Hall insofar as dogs running loose and creating a nuisance. The nuisance seems to be mostly the dumping over of garbage cans, upsetting a neighbors dog that is tied or kenneled, or dropping goods on lawns and .watering bushes. We cannot emphasize enough it is against the ordinance to allow your dog to run loose. For your neighbors sake, and your own, please keep your dog either tied or contained. Accordingly, the ordinance does state dogs must be leashed or contained at all times. Having a country atmosphere here in Ramsey does not mean the dogs can be allowed to roam - freely. Remember, the rights of your dog do not extend over on your neighbors yard. Please everyone do your part and cooperate. Thank you.
