MINNESOTA Permit No. 40 Postal Patron AMSEY City Newsletter DECEMBER 1977 Open House Set For New Municipal Center An Open House for the recently completed Ramsey Municipal Center has been set for January 6, 1978 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The Open House will be highlighted at 4:00 p.m. by a visit from 8th District Congressman, James Oberstar. The municipal cente~.is across from the Ramsey Elementary School. . , ' T':1e Open House is a result of a year long city project. The City submitted a grant application for Local Public W or ks funds through the Economic Development Administration November: 7, 1976. On January 14, 1977, the City received formal grant offer from the Economic Development Administration. A condition of that grant offer was that on-site construction was to begin. within 90 days or A~rif 14, .1977. Actual on-site construction began on April 12, 1977. The project has Par. Commission Menallers Needed The City's Park Commission is still in need of members. Any interested citizens are urged to submit a letter of interest and brief resume. The time involved is minimal usually requiring only one meeting a month. This volunteer position is a very worthwhile endeavor to help your City in the Park and Recreation area. Congressman James Oberstar will be attending the Open House at 4: 00 p.m. Mr. Oberstar has been a stanch supporter of the Local Public Works legislation. It was the, Federal grant of $595,058 that has allowed the construction of the Ramsey Municipal Center. Mr. Oberstar feels that this type of grant program and projects are .those which will have a long range benefit to the individual communities as well as having an immediate impact on local economy. The Ramsey City Council wishes to extend this invitation to aU Ramsey residents and area residents to inspect the new municipal facility and become familiar with it and Ramsey City government.
