XI

NEWSLETTER!!

Due to the number of phone calls we have received on the subject, we are
repeating the information given in our last Newsletter.

Because of the misinformation going around, the Council would like to give
the following information to the residents of Ramsey concerning sewer
coming into our community. There has been discussion at a joint communiti s
meeting concerning the CAB interceptor proposal which would bring such an
interceptor to the edge of the City of Anoka. This will be funded 75%
from the federal government, 15% from the state and 10% by the Metropolita
Waste Control Commission. All this does is bring a sewer line in staged
development to the edge of the City of Anoka. It provides no internal
system for our community whatsoever. The time table will be when the
Metropolitan Waste Control Commission decides and we will advise the
people when this happens. There. will be NOTHING until at least 1980. The
Council strongly urges everyone in our community to take very good care
of your on site system because even if you want sewer service in your com-
munity, there will be no provision for you to have it. The Council is
making no provision to serve our community at this time in any way. How-
ever they are working to see that the facilities will be available, at
the most reasonable cost, to the people when the need to install them,
years down the line, arrives. The Council is reviewing on site systems
that will be abl& to take care of the needs of the people, possibly with-
out the need of any sewer.

It is ~ important to take care of and maintain your septic system.
can piClCUp information on this at the City Hall.

PLANS OF THE BICENTENNIAL COMMITTEE are progressing quite well. A good
start has been made on the work in the Ramsey cemetery. A brush cutter
was used to eliminate the dense brush then a group of about twenty-five
Scouts, 4-H members and adults has spent one Saturday raking and cleaning.
Several more work days will be needed to complete the job and anyone who
wishes to help, will certainly be welcome.

You

Now that Ramsey is a City we would like to see Ramsey have a City flag.
We are planning a contest in which Ramsey residents may submit designs for
the flag and a prize will be given fo.r the design selected. More details
will be publicized later.

Plans are also under way for the Bicentennial festival which will be an
event of next summer. Any organization, club or group which wishes to
participate in the festival is asked to contact Mrs. Pat Locher, 421-7105.
An official Bicentennial flag presentation with Lt. Gov. Rudy Perpich
resent will robabl be an event in October of 1 75. Watch for further

~--
