VII

NEWSLETTER

We are very happy to announce we have received our incorporation and we
will be the City of Ramsey. Affidavits of candidacy may be filed by any
person eligible to hold municipal office not more than four weeks nor less
than two weeks before the election. Elected will be a mayor and four
councilmen. Dates will be published later in the newspapers.Election 11/5

TREE REPLACEMENT: There was an article stating that within five years
there may not be any elm or red oaks left in this part of the country.
Therefore, we urge all citizens to plant trees this fall which have been
recommended to us for replacements such as green ash, soft, red and hard
maples, evergreens, birch, etc.

vffiEDAMD TREE INSPECTOR: We have a Weed and Tree Inspector, Mr. Archie
Doroff, 427-2726, who has been very busy this summer checking diseased
trees. We have had many elm and red oak trees which have had to be re-
moved. He has a message for our residents.

ATTENTION: OWNERS OF ELM AND OAK TREES. The Department of Agriculture
has informed us that all dead elm and oak trees should be cut down and
destroyed. Vapam should be used at least 10 days before removal. Follow
directions on package or call Mr. Doroff for instructions, after 5:00 p.m.
If stump is left in ground, make sure all bark is removed. The tree must
be burned or buried under at least six inches of dirt by April 15, 1975.
Do not attempt ~to sell the wood unless all bark is removed first, as the
disease can still spread with the bark on. If these trees are not re-
moved in 60 days, they will be removed by Ramsey Township at the owner's
expense.

SUNFISH LAKE BLVD. has been formally taken over by the County. Acquisi-
tion of roadway is being done at this time. The County has stated this
road is going to be built and completed next summer. In the meantime the
County will take care of the maintenance on this road.

WE ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH DOGS in the Township. Do not let your dogs
out at night as we are having complaints on dogs knocking over garbage
cans, etc. and this is very irritating to the neighbors. We have a leash
law and dogs must be contained on your own property and licensed.

We had a dog clinic last Saturday._ The next Dog Clinic will be held here
at the Town Hall on Saturday, December "14, 1974, from $:00 a.m. to 12:00
noon. Keep this date by marking it up on your calendar if your dog will
be in need of these shots: Rabies for cats and dogs, distemper shots for
both cats and dogs, hepatitis shots for dogs, and leptospirosis shots for
dogs.
