ORDINANCE # 03-12 <br /> <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />AN AMENDMENT TO CHAPTER 7, WHICH IS KNOWN AS THE LICENSING, AND <br />PERMITS CHAPTER OF THE CITY CODE OF RAMSEY, MINNESOTA. <br /> <br />An ordinance to amend Chapter 7 of the City Code, titled "Licensing and Permits" by the addition of <br />subchapter 7.20, titled "Business Registration Certificate ." <br /> <br />SECTION 1. Amendment <br /> <br />The following text is hereby incorporated into Chapter 7, Licensing and Permits, of the City Code. <br /> <br />Section 7.20 Business Registration Certificate <br /> <br />Section 7.20.01 <br /> <br />General Provisions <br /> <br />Subdivision 1: <br /> <br />Purpose <br /> <br />The purpose of this Section is for the City to obtain and maintain current information on all businesses <br />as defined herein located in the City in order to inform appropriate City departments of the current <br />occupancy and occupancy changes within buildings, permit the City to update and review records <br />regarding emergency contact lists, fire preplan, inspection, and hazardous materials, permit the City to <br />ensure that any business intending to operate within the City shall comply with the State Building Code, <br />the State Fire Code, the City Code, and insure that the business uses conform to the building in which <br />the business intends to operate. The information obtained will also allow the City Police Department to <br />be notified of any hazards or security issues that may affect the community's health, safety and welfare. <br /> <br />Subdivision 2. Definitions <br /> <br />The following words and phrases, when used in this section, shall have the meanings set forth: <br /> <br />Person ~ Includes an individual, partnership, corporation, or any body of persons, whether incorporated <br />or formed as an association or not. <br /> <br />Business - Any establishment, occupation, employment, or enterprise where merchandise is <br />manufactured, exhibited or sold, or where services are offered for compensation. <br /> <br />Zoning Administrator - The City's Community Development Department shall be deemed the Zoning <br />Administrator. <br /> <br />Subdivision 3. Application and Required Information <br /> <br />Application for a Business Registration Certificate ("BRC") shall be made with the Zoning <br />Administrator on a form furnished by the City. The application shall be filed with the Zoning <br />Administrator 30 days prior to any Business's intended occupancy, or 30 days prior to the existing <br />'BRC's expiration date.
