CITY COUNCIL <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey City Council conducted a work session on Monday, February 9, 1998, in the <br />Conference Room of the Ramsey Police Department, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard NW, Ramsey, <br />Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Thomas Gamec <br />Councilmember Carolyn Beahen <br />Councilmember Sheila Beyer <br />Councilmember Natalie Haas Steffen <br />Councilmember Gerald Zimmerman <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />City Administrator James E. Norman <br />Administrative Services Manager Linda Waite Smith <br />City Attorney William Goodrich <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />The Council began discussion at approximately 5:15 p.m. <br /> <br />1) Review Last Year's Meeting Comments: <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec reviewed some items talked about at last year's work session. <br /> <br />· Citizen input - trying to limit to five minutes - will continue to work on this. <br /> <br />· Term limits - will be discussed for this year also. <br /> <br />· Attorney - became more involved and is continuing to do so. Will report later. <br /> <br />Appointed Police Chief- asked him to become more involved in the community - that is <br />happening through involvement with the Lions Club and Youth First to name a couple. As <br />suggested, he is also working on a Disaster Program. <br /> <br />new City Administrator was hired. <br /> <br />A review of the number of Councilmembers on Council Committees was done and <br />determined that two should basically be enough except for the Finance Committee which still <br />includes all five members. <br /> <br />Listening to the residents - Apple Ridge was a good example. There were neighborhood <br />meetings with the residents, developer and City Council and staff.
