WORK SESSION <br /> CITY COUNCIL <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey City Council conducted a work session on October 19, 1998, at the Ramsey <br />Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Thomas Gamec <br />Councilmember Carolyn Beahen <br />Councilmember Natalie Haas Steffen <br />Councilmember Gerald Zimmerman <br /> <br />Members Absent: Councilmember Sheila Beyer <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />City Administrator James E. Norman <br />Director of Public Works Dean Kapler <br />Finance Officer Diana Lund <br />City Engineer Steve Jankowski <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Mark Boos <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec called the work session to order at 5:45 p.m. <br /> <br />COUNCIL DISCUSSION: <br /> <br />City Administrator Norman suggested talking first about street improvements. Those <br />listed in the CIP are BP 95 - 7th Addition, Phase 1 and Phase 2, Burger King extension - <br />S&W/Curb, and the Highway #47 STP Project - all completed in 1998. Jaspar Street <br />scheduled for 2001, Landfill Area development (Industrial Park) for 2000, 2001, 2002, <br />and 2003, McKinley Street slated for 2003, Riverdale Drive for 2001, Signalization of <br />Dysprosium and C.R. #116 for 1999, Sunwood Drive - Sunny Ponds to T.H. #47 - 1998 <br />and 1999 and C.R. #56 to C.R. #116 1998 and 2000. The 153/155 Avenue Extension <br />shows up in 1998 and 1999. Street improvements beyond 2003 include 143rd Street to <br />C,R. #116, 167th Avenue - County Road #5 to Variolite Street, C.R. #116 -Armstrong <br />West to 153rd Avenue, Industrial Service Roads west of Ramsey Boulevard and Sunwood <br />Avenue - west of Ramsey Boulevard. Mr. Norman is of the understanding that Anoka <br />County is interested in moving the #116 project up. <br /> <br />Councilmember Haas Steffen stated that she has been told by County Commissioner <br />Dennis Berg that they have three or four projects that will not go because cities have <br />changed their mind. The County will not go ahead with design and acquisition of <br />property if cities are backing out.
