CITY COUNCIL <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey City Council conducted a special meeting on Thursday, September 4, 1997, at the <br />Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Thomas Gamec <br />Councilmember Carolyn Beahen (arrived later) <br />Councilmember Sheila Beyer <br />Councilmember Natalie Haas Steffen <br />Councilmember Gerald Zimmerman <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />City Administrator Ryan Schroeder <br />Administrative Services Manager Linda Waite Smith <br />Police Chief David Gustafson <br />Fire Chief Dean Kapler <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec called the special meeting of the City Council to order at 5:50 p.m. <br /> <br />APPROVE AGENDA <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Zimmerman and seconded by Councilmember Beyer to approve the <br />agenda as presented. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Zimmerman, Beyer and Haas <br />Steffen. Voting No: None. Absent: CouncilmemberBeahen. <br /> <br />COUNCIL BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case #1: <br /> <br />Authorize City to Enter into Multi-Agency Agreement for Anoka County <br />Auto Theft Task Force <br /> <br />Police Chief Gustafson noted that the cities of Anoka, Blaine, Columbia Heights, Coon Rapids, <br />Fridley, Lino Lakes, Ramsey, Spring Lake Park, St. Francis, Circle Pines and Lexington, and the <br />County of Anoka are joining forces to deal with auto theft. Under the name of the Anoka County <br />Auto Theft Task Force, the group applied for and received a Minnesota Department of Public <br />Safety Auto Theft Prevention Board grant in the amount of $115,528. He stated that the City of <br />Ramsey has a number of new and used car dealers and will definitely benefit from this. This will <br />not cost the City of Ramsey any money. <br /> <br />Administrative Services Manager Waite Smith pointed out that the City Attorney and the <br />Insurance Agent of Record have reviewed the agreement. <br /> <br />City Council/September 4, 1997 <br /> Page 1 of 3 <br /> <br /> <br />
