FINANCE COMMITTEE <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Finance Committee conducted a regular meeting on Tuesday, January 28, 1997, at the Ramsey <br />Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Tom Gamec <br />Councilmember Carolyn Beahen <br />Councilmember Sheila Beyer <br />Councilmember Natalie Haas Steffen (arrived later) <br />Councilmember Gerald Zimmerman <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />City Administrator Ryan Schroeder <br />Finance Officer Jessie Hart <br />Administrative Services Manager Linda Waite Smith <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Chairperson Beahen called the regular meeting of the Finance Committee to order at 6:02 p.m. <br /> <br />APPROVE AGENDA <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Zimmerman and seconded by Councilmember Beyer to approve the <br />agenda as presented. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Zimmerman, Beyer and Beahen. <br />Voting No: None. Absent: CouncilmemberHaas Steffen. <br /> <br />COMMITTEE BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case gl: Officially Receive and Designate Donation for D.A.R.E. Program <br /> <br />Finance Officer Hart reported that the City recently received a donation of $3,000 toward the <br />D.A.R.E. program. This donation was the result of Officer Jim Singewald participating in the <br />D.A.R.E. fund-raising golf tournament organized by Terry Miller of Elk River Landfill, Inc. This <br />money is to be used to enhance the D.A.R.E. Program. <br /> <br />Motion by Mayor Gamec and seconded by Councilmember Beyer to recommend Council accept <br />the $3,000 donation and designate such for enhancement of the D.A.R.E. Program. <br /> <br />Motion carded. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Beyer, Beahen and Zimmerman. <br />Voting No: None. Absent: CouncilmemberHaas Steffen. <br /> <br />Case #2: Authorize Various 1997 Capital Purchases <br /> <br />Finance Officer Hart explained that there are a number of capital outlay items that do not require <br />compliance with any level of statutory bidding laws. Staff will secure the best price possible <br />through written quotes that stay within the budgeted amounts. The items for approval are: (Police) <br />plain paper facsimile machine and 10 bin collator/sorter/feeder for the existing copy machine. <br />(Fire) personal alarms for SCBA harness (2), SCBA harness with bottle, hand held radio, pagers <br />with chargers (4), universal leak control kit and 1-3/4" nozzle. (Enterprise Funds - sewer utility <br />fund) - Gas detector.
