NEIGHBORHOOD GAME FAIR MEETING
CITY OF RAMSEY
ANOKA COUNTY
STATE OF MINNESOTA

The City of Ramsey conducted a meeting with nearby residents of Armstrong Kennels, to discuss
the Game Fair.

Present:

Councilmember Sheila Beyer
Councilmember Gerald Zimmerman
City Administrator Ryan Schroeder
Police Chief Mike Auspos
Merle Mevissen, representing the Ramsey Lions
See Exhibit A for residents present

CALL TO ORDER

The neighborhood meeting was called to order by City Administrator Schroeder at 7:03 p.m.

PRESENTATION:

City Administrator Schroeder stated that the City of Ramsey has invited the residents here to talk
about the Game Fair and to get input from residents so, if possible, we can react positively to your
advice or the Game Fair Representatives can. He noted Chuck Delaney of the Game Fair, and
Mede Mevissen, representing the Ramsey Lions, as they are involved in the parking portion of the
Game Fair.

Chuck Delaney, Armstrong Kennels: The Game Fair began in 1982. We have tried to do a good
job with all phases of the fair. We are always open to suggestions. We have talked to some
residents and have always tried to work with the City on parking, etc. We have tried to be good
neighbors. We need input from you to resolve problems if possible. The dates of the Game Fair
are August 9, 10, 11 and 16, 17 and 18th, and it is basically the same show. I have a lady who
passes out tickets to all the neighbors. We gave out over 200 tickets.

Brad Thorud, 7826 o 161st Avenue NW, Ramsey: The Game Fair is a good show, the Ramsey
booth is good for the City, and if you are interested in hunting and fishing, it's a really good show.
My biggest concern is the traffic and parking. As far as parking, I realize Central Park is the best
area. The problem ! have is, a couple years back, residents got socked over $500 a piece for
resurfacing the road. The parking for the Game Fair is the Ramsey Lions biggest money making
event but the residents are footing the bill for all this extra traffic. It does have some wear and tear
on the road.

Mr. Delaney: The Athletic Club and the Anoka and Ramsey Lions take care of the parking. The
Game Fair has nothing to do with that and all funds are donated to the Lions. If we are not made
aware of concerns, we cannot do anything about it. If it's a major factor, we will have to look into
that. Parking has become quite a controversial thing and we will be looking into making it better.

Mr. Schroeder read a letter from Barb and Pat Baker on Iguana Street and also Philip Oseid on
Iguana. They both expressed concerns about parking.

Mr. Delaney: When we started, we used to park on the old air strip. When that developed, we
moved to Central Park.

Mr. Schroeder to Mede Mevissen: Would it make sense to have to parking areas.

Game Fair Neighborhood Meeting/March 28, 1996
Page 1 of 7
