FINANCE COMMITTEE
CITY OF RAMSEY
ANOKA COUNTY
STATE OF MINNESOTA
The Finance Committee conducted a regular meeting on Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at the Ramsey
Municipal Center, 7550 Sunwood Drive NW, Ramsey, Minnesota.
Members Present:
Also Present:
Councilmember David Elvig
Councilmember Matt Look
Councilmember Jeffrey Wise
Finance Officer Diana Lund
City Administrator Kurtis Ulrich
Parks Supervisor Mark Riverblood
CALL TO ORDER
Chairperson Look called the regular meeting of the Finance Committee to order at 5:30 p.m.
CITIZEN INPUT
There was none.
APPROVE AGENDA
Consensus was to approve the agenda as submitted.
COMMITTEE BUSINESS
4.01: Consider `Self -Serve' Canoe and Kayak Access for Sunfish Lake Park
Parks Supervisor Riverblood reported that in March of 2009, City Council authorized the
construction of Sunfish Lake Park and Trail along Sunfish Lake Boulevard. The project was
funded by the Park Trust Fund and Trail Fund respectively, in not -to -exceed amounts of
$314,198 and #101,217. Mr. Riverblood noted that the bids came in favorable due to the
economic climate of the construction industry. He added that the City was able to route
approximately $40,000 to the 2010 General Fund for those elements that were performed by
maintenance staff, and pay back the Tax Increment Financing District $30,000 for the purchase
of the land within the approved amount. In addition to the total project coming in under the
construction estimate, the City was able to save small amounts in many different categories by
performing changes in the field — and no authorized contingencies were needed. In summary,
the park portion of the project came in $30,000 under the approved amount of $284,198. Mr.
Riverblood pointed out that the purpose of this case is to consider recommending to City Council
the purchase of public canoes and kayaks and attendance security system for the existing canoe
Finance Committee / June 8, 2010
