ALPINE NEIGHBORHOOD MEETING CITY OF RAMSEY ANOKA COUNTY STATE OF MINNESOTA The City of Ramsey conducted a meeting with the people living near the proposed Alpine Park and development area, on Thursday, January 2, 1997. Present: City Administrator Ryan Schroeder Parks/Utilities Supervisor Mark Boos Park and Recreation Commission Chairperson Todd Cook Park and Recreation Commissioner Reid Droegemueller Park and Recreation Commissioner Steve Ostmm Park and Recreation Commissioner Jill Johns Residents - see Exhibit A CALL TO ORDER City Administrator Schroeder called the Alpine Neighborhood meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. PRESENTATION Mr. Schroeder: We are proposing to develop the land north of 153rd and west of Sunfish Lake Boulevard and use the profits from that development to fund park development on the south side of 153rd. This is the second neighborhood meeting. We had the first meeting which was for the folks just adjacent to the 21 acres on the north side of 153rd. We expanded that mailing list some to the west of the park and to the west and north of the original mailing list. We are asking for input on how the residential development should look and how the park should be developed. The residents should have gotten a letter along with some attachments. There are two possible residential development scenarios. The one with cul-de-sacs has 38 lots and the one with the through streets has 42 lots. We determined one of the higher priority items was we did not want to put housing with greater density on the north side of the plat than what was there. Staff felt comfortable with the development patterns submitted. The park concepts - we are still working through those. The road into the development parcel may impact the road into the park parcel. All park concepts I have seen look somewhat similar. We want to know what's more important to you. INPUT Jim Struwve, 15328 Hematite Street NW, Ramsey - Why are the City Councilmembers not here? Do they not care anymore? Mr. Schroeder ~ They were at the first meeting and will be at all the meetings where the approval of things have to happen. They have been involved in many discussions and about all of the park discussions. They have been kept abreast of this all. Resident: There is significant wetland on the east end of this property. How will you preserve that? Mr. Schroeder: In the purchase agreement draft the City is retaining the easternmost portion and the westernmost portion. On the park portion, we own that as well.
