With the platting of the North Fork Oaks 2nd Addition, the City received a dedication of
land from the existing boardwalk to 164th Lane. Residents continue to request the paving
of this section. This connection is the only East/West trail or street route proposed
between Autumn Heights to the North and the Lake Itasca Trailhead to the South. The
addition of this paved trail provides direct access to Central Park for residents of North
Fork, and conversely, access to the Lake Itasca Trail to those to the East of this proposed
connection.
The paving of this project was intended to occur with the construction of the North Fork
Highlands Addition or in 2002. The monies however, were deposited with the City. The
Park Commission's 2003 Capital Improvements request may include this trail project.

2003 -'New Projects'

#6 Irrigate Central Park's Entrance

$17,000

Central's EntranCe was completed in the summer of 2002. Due to lawn turf being used,
irrigation is required. Plans and specifications are being organized at this time.

#7 Flintwood Terrace Shelter and Irrigation

$75,000

The existing site has a playstructure with a bituminous trail access. Because of the level
of use, turf quality usually is poor or non-existent. This project would result in desirable
turf and a small gazebo-style shelter.
The funding is proposed from the Park Trust Fund, and the timing coincides with new
families 'to the area as part of The Ponds subdivision.

#8 Elmcrest Park Parking Lot

Sxx, O00

The Sxx,x00 proposed, would fund the construction of the parking areas associated with
the soccer fields. This would include concrete gutter for all park drives and parking areas.
The access to Uranium Street would be constructed as a rural seCtion street, as would its
future extension to T.H. #47.
The goal would be to have this improvement completed in time for fall soccer in 2003.
This timeline is predicated upon the two things. First the park Commission will need to
complete the Master Plan for Elmcrest during the winter of 2002-2003 so that the siting
of the parking areas work with all aspects of the park layout. And secondly, the turf needs
to be of proven health in order to open the fields for organized use.
