Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos explained that what was already approved by the Park <br />Commission, City Council would approve and the developer would get credit for and they would <br />make a cut through the wetland to the piece of land for access. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Ostmm, seconded by Commissioner Shryock, to accept the one-half <br />acre of land as park dedication on the southeast comer. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Johns, Commissioners Ostmm, Shryock, LaMere, <br />Lehman, and Olds. Voting No: None. Absent: Rolfe. <br /> <br />Mr. Raatikka discussed the tree preservation within the development. <br /> <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos asked what the time line was for the development. <br /> <br />Mr. Raatikka noted that once approved, the ground breaking would be in July 2003. <br /> <br />Commissioner Olds asked what they would do with the trees they take down. <br /> <br />Mr. Raatikka explained they would either chip them or cut them into logs. <br /> <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos noted the development could donate a couple of the trees to the <br />Parks for a recycling project and use in other parks. <br /> <br />Case #2: <br /> <br />Receive Sketch Plan for Ramsey Town Center and Schedule Special Meeting <br />for Addressing Park and Trail Issues <br /> <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos explained, as the Commission is aware, the developer's <br />representatives continue to meet with Staff to improve and refine various concepts and design <br />issues necessary for planning a mixed-use project of this scope. A Sketch Plan has been received <br />by the Planning Commission at their May meeting and was tabled. However, it will be reviewed <br />at a Work Session by City Council. The purpose of this case is to receive the Sketch Plan and <br />schedule a special meeting to provide recommendations on park, trail, and open space needs for <br />the Town Center site. Staff is proposing Thursday May 29th, 2003 as that date. Staff <br />recommends that the Commission become familiar with the attached Planning Commission case <br />and attachments in advance of the special meeting. Another source of information would be the <br />developer's web site at www.ramsey03.com <br /> <br />Consensus of the Commission was to meet on May 29, 2003 at 6:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Case #3 <br /> <br />Approve Parking Lot Plan for Elmcrest Park <br /> <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos stated a work session was held following the Park Commission <br />regular April meeting for the purpose of refining various layouts and concepts for Elmcrest <br />Park's parking lots and park drive. Staff has incorporated each of those recommendations into <br />the revised concept plan.
