Chairperson Wagner inquired as to the existence of any document that surveys opinions regarding
what people would like to see come into this area, and if they could be used to draft a
redevelopment plan.

Mr. Gromberg informed him there is the Highway #10 Corridor Study from 1988, which states
that the City should examine the possibility of redevelopment in the area, but offers no concrete
ideas. There are manufacturing, retail, and residential mixed together in some areas. There is a
problem with the many individual accesses directly onto Highway/~10.

Commissioners were encouraged to drive through other cities with major corridors to see what
kinds of arrangements work best and figure out how to make a more useful and attractive corridor.

Councilmember Peterson would like to meet with the members of the EDC to discuss their goals
and to perhaps arrange a meeting with some of the business owners along Highway #10 in order to
improve its image.

Case #5: Marketing Plan for Industrial Property

Economic Development Coordinator Gromberg reported that a subcommittee was formed at the
January meeting of the EDC; however, none of those members are present at this meeting.

Commissioner McGhee stated that, as was discussed before, some marketing materials from other
sources may be utilized in our own marketing plan.

Commissioner David Kent arrived (7:06 p.m.)

Mr. Gromberg stated that one of the advantages that the City of Ramsey has is that it owns
property available for industrial development. This will allow us to offer some flexibility to
potential buyers with Tax Increment Financing as a tool.

Commissioner McGhee offered the materials he had received from the City of Eau Claire for the
other Commissioners to review.

Chairperson Wagner and the other Commissioners discussed the proposed advertisements with
Mr. Gromberg.

Commissioner Stafki offered his real estate sales services.

The possibility of a new City logo was discussed. There were some suggestions for soliciting
ideas in the Ramsey Resident newsletter. Mr. Gromberg suggested a simple rather than the
intricate logo that is on the Ramsey flag that once hung in the Council Chambers.

Chairperson Wagner stated that suggestions should be brought to the subcommittee for discussion
and presentation at the March meeting of the EDC.

STAFF INPUT

l)

The City is working with the Command Corporation to develop a site approximately seven
acres in size near the currently owned commercial/industrial property.

Economic Development Commission / February 2, 1995
Page 4 of 5
