groups they represent, and work on the various project dates.
Anoka-Hennepin School District (Tom Redman): The Building and Grounds
Supervisor will help us in the detailed planning of the project, provide assistance with equipment,
and provide labor to accompany the equipment.
Volunteers (parents of Ramsey students, community members, Cub and Boy Scouts,
Ramsey staff) will provide the labor, equipment, and talent to assemble the boardwalk.
The RELA Committee will request design and organizational advice from City staff
experienced in similar projects.

* Describe experience related to the proposed project or reference or other similar successful
endeavors.

In December, 1993, we met with Mark Boos to cooperatively plan a Nature Trail for the
Ramsey School Site. We successfully designed, cleared, and chipped a 12 Station Nature Trail by
October, 1994. We received input from Mark Boos (City Of Ramsey), Lisa Gilliland (Anoka County
Parks), Lyle Bradley (Anoka naturalist), many skilled parents, Ramsey students and teachers, Twin
City Tree Trust. We have a core of committed committee members who have kept the project
moving ahead in many directions (teacher training, computer database, student training, and Trail
development). Our community responded with enthusiasm to chipping of the Trail. It provided a
unique opportunity for parents, adults, and child'en to work together on a significant outdoor
recreation and environmental education project.

* Has the project begun?

We have been discussing how to create a boardwalk for the Wetland area since the inception
of the RELA Project. We have inquired into other sources for possible financial assistance. We do
not meet the qualifications for many areas because we are not considered a rural area. We have
applied for assistance from SNAP (School Nature Area Project) for further training of teachers and
site development (planting native wildflowers). We will continue to incorporate the Wetland area
into our science curriculum activities. We did plant 100+ tamarack trees in the Wetland area to
enhance the site.

* Are any individuals or interests adversely affected?. NO

* Is the applicant prepared to make financial commitments for future operation and maintenance?

The RELA Committee has a s~ong commitment to keep this area in its natural state, to
encourage the growth of native species of plants and animals, and to provide experiences in
