Mr. Schmidt responded to Mr. Tollette's comment about a letter and stated that it had
nothing to do with the maintenance building. Instead, it was related to an issue of storing
junk machinery, waste concrete, plastic pipe, etc. He stated he has been after the golf
course for years to get this mess cleaned up. He added that City staff has told him the golf
course is in compliance, tte contacted Mr. Tollette again this spring to clean this up and
that letter was simply infom~ing Mr. Tollette that he knew they would not do anything. He
commented that the golf course cannot maintain 20 feet along a fence line, how can they
maintain a maintenance building. Mr. Schmidt detailed the amount of money he has put
into his home such as building a large deck and the removal of the trees in his yard to better
blend with the golf course.

Mr. Tollette responded to Mr. Schmidt's response relating to the letter. Mr. Tollette felt
that is indirectly what the letter is involved with. He stated they have heard from Mr.
Schmidt relating to the storage of that "stuff" and he explained that it was left over
materials. He added that this all came about when Mr. Schmidt was notified of the
building. Mr. Tollette had told him then what the plans were and that it would all be taken
care of.

Mayor Hardin inquired how the development plan is addressing outside storage.

Ms. Frolik stated that it does not address it. They are a conditional use. The original
development plan would be amended to specifically say they have approved and reviewed
the maintenance building on Outlot G.

Mr. Toilette replied as far as the sod, rock, etc., it's delivered to the parking lot and used in
a timely manner. Relating to the site plan - we will fence on the north side of the building -
approximately another 60' by 80' up to the easement. We assume our machines will fit
inside the building. There is no plans for storage on the south side or the east side. There
will be nothing outside the building or the fenced yard.

Mr. Schmidt stated there is activity still in that area and anyone who wishes for proof, he
can give them pictures or videos. He added that the letter from the golf course has a twist
on it - the southwest corner is not being used. "These people like to twist things and I twist
nothing. They will tell you anything you want to hear. I do not trust them. I live on a golf
course - not an industrial park. My property value will not increase with this building."

Tod Guimont stated she lives in Jerry Schmidt's neighborhood. If the City is looking at
new ways to clean up and be more presentable, this will not help as this building will be an
eyesore no matter how much you try to do. The golf course has never contacted Jerry or
anyone else for that matter. The Planning Commission - certain members have an interest
in that golf course and that should be checked out. She asked Council if they would like
this in their back yard.

Tom Anderson, 16831 Helium Street N.W., Ramsey, stated he has been involved with the
golf course and area from the time it was first approved. There were plans for a future
building for cans. We have looked at numerous sites and we ran into certain problems at
these sites. We have gone to great lengths to satisfy Mr. Schmidt, but negotiating is
difficult. He commented that they are looking at a safety problem right now and added that
he felt aesthetics is not a problem.

Ms. Guimont agreed that golf carts crossing Highway//47 is a hazard but commented on
the customers or employees crossing to go over to LeToumeau's all the time.

Sue Schmidt, 5831 - 164th Lane N.W., Ramsey, stated she does not agree with this
building. It will be detrimentally affecting the resale of her home and the enjoyment of
living there. She recapped the portion of the findings of fact that mentioned that nothing

City Council/July 25, 1995
