Mayor Gilbertson inquired of Police Chief Auspos if a lot of speeding tickets are issued in
that area of the City to which Chief Auspos replied there are a lot and added that it is a
problem area.

Mayor Gilbertson inquired about putting in a stop sign to which Chief Auspos replied that
the State will not authorize stop signs for speed control.

Mr. Jankowski stated that stop signs are not effective in controlling speeds. The driver has
to stop, therefore, he tries to make up for lost time by speeding more.

Councilmember Zimmerman inquired about speed humps.

Mr. Jankowski informed him that several cities have been experimenting with speed
humps, which are longer than speed bumps. The City of St. Paul installed them at the
citizens request and later took them out at the citizens request because they are a nuisance.

Mayor Gilbertson inquired if speed humps would cause any problems for snow plowing to
which Mr. Jankowski replied that it is a tolerable situation but would cause some problems.
He added that if the City wishes to experiment with speed humps, this would be the place
to do so.

Council directed that Mr. Jankowski review this situation along with Police Chief Auspos
and report back to Council.

APPROVE AGENDA

City Administrator Schroeder asked to add Case #8: Approve Option Agreement for PIN
27-32-25~44-0017.

Motion by Councilmember Hardin and seconded by Councilmember Peterson to approve
the agenda, as amended.

Motion carried.
