Staff could have had a public hearing to that effect a lot of questions could have been
answered at that time.

Robert and Joyce Kalstbakken, 5571 Sunfish Lake Drive N.W., Ramsey, stated they had a
concern about changing the name of their street. The name is being changed to Sunwood
Drive. Ms. Kalstbakken stated we are the only house on that street with that address and
she added she does not understand why the name has to be changed. She mentioned it is
causing a lot of hassles for them - such as changing driver's license, vehicle registration,
check blanks, etc.

Mayor Gilbertson stated that the City will assist them in making the necessary changes.

City Administrator Schroeder stated that the City would provide sufficient notice of the
pending change.

Ms. Kalstbakken stated she had never been notified of the address change and that the way
she found out was her in-laws read it in the Ramsey Resident. She reiterated the hassles of
the change. She added that notifying the utility companies is the easiest part of this. Ms.
Kalstbakken stated that if it's being changed because of name confusion, it will be more
confusing when it's Sunwood Place.

Mr. Schroeder stated that the actual reason is because of confusion.

Mr. Kalstbakken inquired if it's because of the new development and stated if it is, why not
just leave it. He added that it's the taxpayers money paying for the street signs.

City Engineer Jankowski stated there are a few intersections and not many signs.

Ms. Kalstbakken inquired if the City is going to pay for her to make all the changes.

Mr. Jankowski stated that if the City failed to notify them, he apologized. He stated that
the City makes every effort to give people ample time to make the changes. He added that
the change is having to take place because of where the street falls on the grid.

Mr. Kalstbakken inquired if Staff didn't have enough to do one day and just decided to
change the street name. He felt that people will be even more confused now and that they
are the only people affected by this change. He reiterated it being a hassle and that he could
see no reason for doing this. Mr. Kalstbakken stated that when they first moved to
Ramsey, people got confused with Sunfish Lake Boulevard and Sunfish Lake Drive - the
UPS drivers, the pizza deliveries, etc. However, now they know where they are.

Mr. Schroeder stated that the name is being changed to Sunwood Drive and it is a three or
four mile long road. It goes from Highway g47 to Ramsey Boulevard.

Ms. Kalstbakken asked for adequate time to make the changes and reiterated what a hassle
it's been and how time consuming it's been.

Mayor Cdlbertson stated ifs not like the Kalstbakken's will have to go through this every
couple months. It will be an inconvenience the one time.

Ms. Kalsthakken stated that the decision appears to be made and asked who will have to
pay for the changes.

City Council/November 22, 1994
