I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I$ <br />I <br />I <br />i <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />Case #6:~ Request to Use Central Park's Parking Lot for 1993 Game <br /> Fair; Request by Ramsey Lions Club <br /> <br />City Admi~ istrator Schroeder stated that the Ramsey Lions have requested permission to <br />use the payed parking areas in Central Park for parking vehicles for the Game Pair. He <br />stated he ~nt a letter to Mr. Charles Delaney and suggested he (Mr. Delaney) talk with City <br />Council regarding the marketing of his event. <br /> <br />Charles I~laney, owner of Armstrong Ranch Kennels stated that he received the letter from <br />Mr. Schr~.~ er. He explained this is the 12th year of the Game Fair and that there is no <br />money cOming to him for the parking. That money goes to the Lions Club. He stated he <br />has alway~ gotten the "rap" for not promoting the City of Ramsey. He felt that the Game <br />Fair alono Was,a promotion for the City and stated he needs thc help and cooperation from <br />the City to gake it a success. The only cOmplaint he has is the parking and felt that the City <br />should b~ thinking about making that better. He added there is no one from the City of <br />Ramsey who has an exhibit at his fair. He stated he wants to be a part of the City and that <br />he is trying, to promote the City as well. Itis advertisements say the City of Anoka but they <br />also say lo~ated in the City of Ramsey. He stated it is difficult for people to differentiate <br />between the City of Ramsey and Ramsey County. He felt that the City should do <br />something got him like having a sign stating "City of Ramsey, Home of the Game Fair" <br />such as wh~t the City of Anoka does for the St. Stephens fair. He stated he hires a lot of <br />youth in Ramsey and he has about 80+ employees for the fair. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hardin inquired what the percent of repeat visitors are to which Mr. <br />Delaney replied 80%. Mr. Delaney stated his Game Fair is better every year and he does <br />not like to be needled about promoting the City of Ramsey. He also suggested having the <br />City represented at the fair. He asked to have access to some of the fields at Central Park <br />for parking m there is more space needed. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmembcr Peterson and seconded by Councilmember Beyer to giant the <br />request of:the Ramscy Lions Club to use the Central Park's parking lot for the 1993 Game <br />Fair and to direct Staff to see if there is additional space that could be used for parking. <br /> <br />Motion caffied: Voting Yes: Mayor Gilbertson, Councilmembers Peterson, Beyer, Hardin <br />and Zimmennan. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case #7: Review Recycling Contract Renewal <br /> <br />Project Mar~a~ ger Oromberg stated that Aec Solid Waste, Inc. was not in full agreement with <br />a month to month contract, however, they were willing to provide the recycling service <br />under a six ~6) month contract that allows the City to terminate the contract should the City <br />decide to change the delivery system for solid waste programs. He stated that a meeting <br />will be conducted with the haulers at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 21, 1993 in the Council <br />Chambers. ' <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Hardin and seconded by Mayor Gilbertson to continue the <br />current prosram (Contract) with Ace Solid Waste, Inc. The contract must include an <br />escape clause for the City. <br /> <br />Motion carded. Voting Yes: Mayor Gilbertson, Councilmembers Hardin and Peterson. <br />Voting No: Councilmembers Beyer and Zimmerman. <br /> <br />Case 08: Introduce Ordinance to Reduce the Side yard Setback <br /> Requirement in the R-I Urban Residential District <br /> <br />City Council/July 13, 1993 <br /> <br />i Page 8 of 15 <br /> <br /> <br />
