She inquired who would pay for the road, who <br />would mai~., tain it and who would pay taxes on it. <br /> <br />Mayor Gfll)ertson stated that this road will be built with State Aid money; so it is basically a <br />"free road". <br /> <br />Ms. Volkman argued that it will not be a free road because of the maintenance and taxes, <br />etc. She f~lt this whole project should be dropped and suggested getting more police <br />officers an~l fhe fighters instead. She stated that if Council does decide to construct this <br />road, it will not happen overnight because the City will have to "contend with the DNR and <br />people like!mySelf'. <br /> <br />Harry Johnson~ 15280 Armstrong Boulevard N.W., Ramsey, stated he enjoys the beauty <br />of the wetland every morning. He said that if this road is constructed with a turn lane, thc <br />turn lane v~ill be less than 30 feet from his house. He stated that he had previously given <br />eight feet 0f his property plus some of his trees for a road easement and felt it was unfair <br />that this w~s going to be done to him again. He suggested it has to be mentioned to <br />keep people reformed so they know it pertains to them also. <br /> <br />Lowell Va ~S~r, eur suggested Council listen to its people. <br /> <br />Mayor GilbertsOn stated that Council does listen to its people; however, decisions impact <br />all 14,000 ~eople in Ramsey. The City needs an east/west route and we owe it to the <br />communityto provide for better transportation mutes. <br /> <br />Mr. Vassem' suggested using the MSA dollars to widen out #63 and #64. <br /> <br />Mayor Oil ,l~e. nson stated those are County not City roads. <br /> <br />Mr. Vasseur stated that the City has changed an alignment for a golf course but they will <br />not change this alignment to save a wetland. <br /> <br />Mr. Smith[asked for the names of the people who are pushing for this project. He <br />suggested the project should be stopped, the money should not be spent, and the City <br />Administrator Should start working on something else besides roads.
