<br />Exhibit 1 <br /> <br /> <br />Volunteer Opportunity <br />Environmental Expo Plannin!! Committee <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Description: Plan and coordinate the City's Environmental Expo <br /> <br />Project Duration: November (2008) through early spring, culminating on April 18, 2009 (event date). <br /> <br />Estimated Hours: Committee members should anticipate at least 30-40 hours. <br /> <br />GoaVOutcome of Project: Plan and coordinate various components of the City's Environmental Expo, <br />an ammal environmental outreach event for residents. Components of the event include a tree/plant sale, <br />exhibitor's area, youth activities, and workshops/presentations on various environmental concepts and <br />topics of local interest. <br /> <br />Detail of Activity: Committee members will work both with Staff and independently (and possibly at <br />times in conjunction with the Environmental Policy Board [EPB]) to plan and coordinate the <br />Enviromnental Expo. Meetings will be once per month in November and December, and then more <br />frequently in January, February, and March, and then as needed in April. Planning efforts may include <br />developing themes for the event, contacting and lining up vendors/exhibitors for the event, leading <br />workshops and/or presentations and assisting with set-up and take-down for the event. The Committee <br />will be responsible for providing periodic progress reports to Staff, which can than be relayed to the EPB <br />and as needed to City Council and the Park & Recreation Commission. <br /> <br />Benefits to Volunteer: Pmiicipating on the Enviromnental Expo Planning Committee will allow <br />members to engage and educate the general public (and potentially the participant as well) about the <br />environment while also contributing to the improvement and beautification of their community. This is a <br />great opportunity for environmentally conscience individuals to usher in Spring with neighbors and <br />friends.
