• PC CASE # <br />AUTHORIZATION TO HIRE PAID ON-CALL FIRE FIGHTERS <br />By: Givonna Reed Kone, Human Resources Manager <br />Background <br />In an effort to bring the City to a full complement of Fire Fighters for the Burns Station, staff <br />began a recruitment process to hire additional paid on-call Fire Fighters. A Fire Fighter <br />Orientation was held in September 2007 and interviews were conducted in October. 2007. <br />Candidates were interviewed by a panel consisting of the Fire Chief, both Assistant Fire Chiefs, <br />the Fire Marshal, and the Human Resources Manager. Candidates took the physical agility test in <br />October. <br />At this. time staff is recommending that following individuals be hired aspaid-on-call Fire <br />Fighters: Vicki Harrington and Jason Blood. Both individuals have successfully completed <br />background checks and medical exams. <br />Funding Source <br />These paid on call Fire Fighter positions were approved as part of the 2007 General Fund <br />Budget. There are no additional funding implications associated with removing the Fire Fighters <br />from probation. <br />Staff Recominendatibn <br />Staff is recommending that the Personnel Committee make a motion recommending that the City <br />Council hire the following individuals aspaid-on-call- Fire Fighters: Vicki Harrington and Jason <br />Blood. These individuals would be hired at an hourly wage of $12.50 and would begin <br />employment on December 12, 2007. <br />Committee Action <br />Make a motion recommending the City Council hire the following individuals aspaid-on-call <br />Fire Fighters: Vicki Harrington and Jason Blood.
