CASE <br /> <br /> INTRODUCE ORDINANCE AMENDING WATER <br /> AND UTILITIES SECTION OF THE CITY CODE <br /> By: Steven Jankowski, City Engineer and <br /> Sandra Heiling, Finance Officer <br /> <br />Backgroun~l: <br /> <br />The City Cogncii has expressed a desire to examine whether the existing water and sewer rates are <br />adequate. A~ apart of Staff's review of this issue it was noted that both sewer and water rates are <br />currently li~ited~rto being set by ordinance. The primary purpose of the ordinance amendment is to <br />allow wate~ find fewer rates to be adjusted periodically by resolution. However, in addition to this <br />goal, the C~t~ EOgineer, the Building Official and the Parks/Utilities Coordinator reviewed the <br />ordinance w!th (t~e intent of increasing its clarity and having it conform more closely to actual <br />procedures"b~ing followed. As a result, the revised ordinance provides separate sections for each <br />utility, chartres ~ertain procedures for more efficient operation of the City's utility system and <br />describes t}~maxmer and procedures required for connecting to City water and sewer utilities. A <br />draft of the!ordir~ance has been sent to the City Attorney for codification and review.
