Absent: Commissioners Rustad and Swokowski. <br />Case #4: ~ U~pdate: LCMR Grant Proposal and Consider Request of City <br /> ~ C{ouncil to Pass Resolution Urging Expansion or Continuation of <br /> F~derai and State Funding Programs <br />Parks/Utilit[os COordinator Boos stated this case deals with the LCMR grant as it stands right now <br />and includ~ ideas presented at the January Park and Recreation meeting. He suggested the <br />Commissio~ not{ the letter from the Minnesota Recreation and Park Association which asks for <br />commitmen~J to ~support two petitions: one for the continued funding for the State Outdoor <br />Recreation .-Orand Program and a second to increase the State side allocation for Federal Land and <br />Water Cons~rvad. on Funds. <br />Motion by ~hairPerson Hetland and seconded by Commissioner Lokker to recommend that City <br />Council adOpt a ~esolution urging the expansion of the Federal Land and Water Conservation Fund <br />Program. <br /> <br />Motion carried. ¥oting Yes: Chairperson Hetland, Commissioners Lokker, Florentius, Johnson <br />and Prall. ~oting No: None. He informed the Commission that Waste <br />Managemenl[ Of Minnesota, Inc. is cooperating with the City and also that Anoka-Hennepin School <br />District #11 ls ve~ excited about the proposal. He added that Ramsey Elementary School would <br />be trail conn~x:ted~, but also that Anoka Senior High would be connected because of the bridge. He <br />mentioned r~locaking the old town hall and having it available for historical interpretation and <br />environmen[al education. The building would also be available for festivities such as 50th <br />wedding an4vers~xies, etc. and possibly the Minnesota Historical Society could use it fo,r, monthly <br />educational (~¢tivi~ies. He talked about the Itasca Village concept that included an 1850 s trading <br />post which ~ould serve as a park shelter.
