<br />'. <br /> <br />There was a consensus by the Council to include a phrase in Goal #2 about looking for a variety <br />of color and style. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig stated that he would also like to create an incentive for executive type <br />housing. <br /> <br />Councilmember Strommen stated that this was discussed as part of the housing plan, but wasn't <br />included in the strategies. She suggested adding this as a strategy under Goal #1. <br /> <br />Assistant Community Development Director Frolik suggested that Goal #1 include: "A variety <br />of housing types for all life stages and income levels". <br /> <br />Councilmember Jeffrey stated that this statement would need a strategy to back it up. <br /> <br />Mr. Carlson stated that if there is a strategy regarding this in the housing plan, this can be <br />referenced in the comprehensive plan. . <br /> <br />Councilmember Olson stated that under Goal #2, she would like to have something that <br />addresses existing housing and green conservation measures. She suggested "explore <br />opportunities to make green conservation measures and education available to existing <br />homeowners. " <br /> <br />Economic Development and Marketing <br /> <br />Councilmember Olson stated that she thought the strategy to pursue a community-wide <br />technology plan to meet business technology needs (fiber-optic and/or wi-fi) was dropped. <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson stated that this was pulled as a goal and suggested that the <br />strategy language be changed to "continue to monitor" community wide technology. <br /> <br />There was a consensus of the Council to change the strategy statement to "continue to monitor" <br />community-wide technology. <br /> <br />Councilmember Look stated that the last strategy for Goal # 1 talks about continuing partnerships <br />with neighboring cities and local chambers of commerce. He stated that there were discussions <br />at the public meeting about having our own Chamber of Commerce. <br /> <br />Assistant Community Development Director Frolik stated that there was a recommendation from <br />the EDA to remove that strategy and develop a local Chamber of Commerce. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig stated that he remembers this discussion and felt that the conclusion was <br />that the City should try to do their own thing in collaboration with the large chamber groups that <br />are already established. <br /> <br />Councilmember Strommen suggested the wording "explore opportunities" rather than "develop". <br /> <br />City Council Work Session /Aprill, 2008 <br />Page 5 of 20 <br />
