<br />Mayor Gamec stated that he would also like to continue the support this year, but look at other <br />options such as an agreement with the YMCA for use of their pool. <br /> <br />Councilmember Jeffrey stated that he would like staff to take a look at the Juvenile Diversion <br />program funding to see if Councilmember Elvig is correct, because otherwise there may not be <br />funds to support the aquatic center. <br /> <br />City Administrator Ulrich clarified that the 70/30 split mentioned by Civil Engineer II Linton <br />would be in effect beginning in 2009. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Look, seconded by Mayor Gamec, to contribute $4,000 to the Anoka <br />Aquatic Center for 2008. <br /> <br />Further Discussion: Councilmember Strommen stated that she would like to make sure that staff <br />takes a look at the Juvenile Diversion program dollars and also take a look at other possible <br />opportunities for residents. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Absent: Councilmember Olson. <br /> <br />Case #8: <br /> <br />Receive Petition Opposing Connection of 148th Lane and Garnet Street <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Look, seconded by Councilmember Jeffrey, to receive the petition <br />opposing the proposed connection of 148th Lane and Garnet Street. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Look, Jeffrey, Dehen, Elvig, and <br />Strommen. Voting No: None. Absent: Councilmember Olson. <br /> <br />Assistant City Engineer Himmer stated that there will be a case at the next meeting to discuss <br />moving forward with the watermain looping, trail connection and limited parking facilities for <br />Alpine Park. <br /> <br />Case #9: . <br /> <br />Consider Confirmation of Direction Given in Closed Session <br /> <br />City Attorney Goodrich stated that at an earlier closed session meeting, a proposed settlement <br />agreement and release was presented for HSP vs. the City of Ramsey. He stated that a majority <br />of the Councilmembers present supported entering into the agreement and paying $8,475 of City <br />funds and $816 from the League of Minnesota Cities. He stated that the plaintiff had originally <br />sued the City for $17,054. He stated that the Council made it clear in the earlier meeting that <br />HSP will need to give the business plan to the City, in the English language. <br /> <br />Councilmember Dehen stated that it is his understanding that this lawsuit stemmed from a China <br />trip that some of the Councilmembers and the Mayor took. He stated that it is also his <br />understanding that there has been little, if any, work product. He stated that he opposes the <br />settlement because the City has never been provided with any work and he does not feel the City <br />should just pay someone to make them go away. <br /> <br />City Council / April 22, 2008 <br />Page 16 of 18 <br />
